Bryant Gumbel Blasts NRA Members as "Pigs"

Bryant Gumbel

Real Sports anchor Bryant Gumbel said in an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year that NRA members are “pigs”.

He went on to say how the NRA is a “curse upon the American landscape” and that they do not care about human life.

Mr. Gumbel received backlash over his comments on Thursday, when NRA Radio host Cam Edwards blasted Gumbel over his remarks in an interview with Glenn Beck’s The Blaze.

“I could introduce him to mothers and fathers, veterans and active duty members of the military, law enforcement officers, doctors, and paramedics I know who are proud members of the NRA.”

“The NRA members I know value human life enough to want to protect themselves and their families from those who would do them harm. They’re not pigs. They’re good people.”

Gumbel is known for regurgitating leftist talking points.

In 1993, Gumbel attacked guns  on the Today Show saying,

“America is losing its young people to gunfire and violence. Due in great part to the sad lack of gun control, murder is the second leading cause of teenage death in this country."

Cities that impose strict gun control measure often get adverse effects. For example, in 1976, Washington D.C. residents were prohibited from possessing a handgun. The Washington, D.C. murder rate averaged 73% higher than it was when the law was first implemented while the U.S. murder rate averaged 11% lower. In a recent Harvard study, researchers concluded that there is no correlation between more gun control and less crime violence.

In 1989, Gumbel blasted the Reagan administration saying "largely as a result of the policies and priorities of the Reagan administration, more people are becoming poor and staying poor in this country than at any time since World War II."

As a point of correction to Mr. Gumbel’s statements, the Reagan administration's policies actually helped the country. Under the Reagan presidency, Americans saw an increase of 20 million more jobs, a 27% increase in the net worth of families earning between $20,000 and $50,000, a 26% increase in real gross national product and the real median income for families under Reagan rose by $4000.

Leftists...aren't they just the worst?
