"Power of Women" Parade

Congratulations Team U.S.A.

After their World Cup Championship win over Japan, the United States Women's National Team paraded down Canyon of Heroes and each received the key to the city by Mayor de Blasio.

Robin Roberts, the anchor of ABC's Good Morning America, was the master of ceremonies for the first ever parade for a women's team. Mayor de Blasio said,

"You can see out there the love the people of the city and the people of this country have for this team and what they mean to all of us." Mayor de Blasio noted that a record number of people watched the game. He added, "You can see it in the faces of men and women, boys and girls and it was just the purest, deepest sense of admiration. Our hearts are with this team, aren't they?"

The mayor said that the team brought home a strong message of power and strength and the "need to create a more equal society for all."

Even Governor Cuomo rode on a float during the parade! Congratulations to the women's championship!
