The Sick City Council: Advocates Cop Killers & Terrorists

During a New York City Council press conference, the featured speaker, Jaritza Geigel, an organizer with Make the Road New York, an activist group, wore a hoodie referring to Assata Shakur, an FBI labeled domestic terrorist decades after her 1977 conviction for killing New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster.

When a reporter asked Geigel about her “Assata Taught Me” shirt, Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito blocked the question until after the press conference. Mind you, this press conference was about legislation on school safety and data collection, what is a person who advocates violence doing speaking at this event?

Not only did a cop killer speak at a City Council press conference, but the Council passed a resolution to urge President Obama to release a known terrorist! More below.

A few months ago the New York City Council passed a resolution urging President Obama to release known terrorist Oscar Lopez Rivera. The resolution passed with 41 votes, with 8 voting “no” and 2 abstaining.

The 72-year-old imprisoned leader of the terrorist FALN (Armed Forces of National Liberation) is painted by the City Council as a “decorated Vietnam War veteran and community activist” who received a “disproportionate” 55-year prison sentence for his crimes.

Rivera conspired to transport explosives with intent to destroy federal government property and committed other crimes. Also, the FALN was responsible for an attack that killed six people and injured 130 others in at least 114 bombings, including one that maimed three NYPD officers at a 1982 New Year's Eve bombing in Manhattan that killed four and injured more than 50 others.

What has come of the New York City Council the past few months? Liberals have power in this city and their ridiculous agenda is dangerous. They are right though, 33 years is enough. This man, like so many others, deserves the death penalty.
